How to Stay Consistent as a Solopreneur
Read time: 2.5 min.
You’re probably reading this because you want more out of life.
I get it. That fire inside you? It usually sparks after spending way too much time indulging in things that feel good in the moment but leave you feeling empty.
One day, you wake up and think: This isn’t the way to live.
So you decide to change. You go all in (maybe start building your personal brand). You get disciplined. You work hard. And for a while, you feel unstoppable.
Then you push harder.
You’re killing it, so why not take it up a notch? But after a few long, brutal days, life starts to feel dull. Your energy dips. Stress piles up. And relaxation suddenly feels impossible.
But hey, you deserve to unwind, right?
So you do. You binge Netflix until 2AM, scroll your phone mindlessly, and eat enough junk food to feed a small army. Maybe even visit your favorite guilty-pleasure websites.
And just like that—you’re back at square one. Stuck in the same vicious cycle.
Here’s the hard truth: That’s not real relaxation.
It’s numbing. It doesn’t recharge you. It just distracts you from how fried you really are. Your body is still tense. Your mind is still exhausted. And deep down, you know tomorrow is going to be another grind with energy you don’t have.
So how do you actually stay consistent long-term?
By keeping stress low and steady.
When stress builds up, discipline cracks. Your body fights back. And if you push too far, burnout forces you to quit. I’ve seen it happen. Health-wise, it’s a disaster. But worse? There’s a graveyard of solopreneurs who had to abandon their dreams because their bodies couldn’t take the pressure.
Imagine that. Being forced to quit, not because you weren’t good enough, but because you ran yourself into the ground. That’s the ultimate doom scenario.
The Routine That Prevents Burnout:
Define your weekly output – Get crystal clear on what you need to achieve each week. Note these as your tasks to complete.
Batch tasks into time blocks – Context switching ruins your focus. Group similar tasks into one dedicated time block. Then set an end time for each block (90-minute blocks work best based on many studies)
Only work on a task in its dedicated time block – This ensures you don’t fall into the trap of overworking, constantly putting out fires, and jumping around like a caffeinated squirrel. It feels productive, but it kills your focus (and your sanity)
The goal isn’t to work less.
It’s to work smarter, so you can sustain this for years, not just weeks.
Your ambitious mind will try to convince you that success is just one all-nighter away. Don't fall for it. I did, and it nearly cost me everything.
The life you're dreaming of is built one steady day at a time.
Take it from someone who learned the hard way.
Much love,
Martijn
P.S. Most creators are drowning in work they don’t need to be doing. I help them cut the fluff, systemize their workflow, and get results in half the time. If that sounds like what you need, send me a DM on X and I’ll get back to you.
